i think its pretty much obvious that they are some of the most talented, varied musicians in metal today, the people who aren't just hating this to follow whatever trend tend to acknowledge that. however, it is still valid to argue that they are lazy songwriters or that their music is way too indulgent and reliant on spastic noodling, I loved the way they handled it on here for the most part but can see how others wouldnt agree. I think its pretty hard to deny the actual musical talent of each member in the band

not if you have the amount of technical talent and knowledge of a bazillion scales like they do....I am defending them, especially on this, I love how they approached composing the music, but the whole lazy songwriting thing has to do with the fact that if they cant put certain sections together like they want to, they fill the gaps with whatever they feel like (ive found this is mostly on tgm, which is much less interesting than this album, and alaska which is less coherent), while on this, besides a few spots, it worked for me. I really enjoy almost everything about this album, its a lot of fun imo

i know, i think their great (and the tsc is prolly their best tied with this) but witht heir most recent two (and i still dig the parallax a lot besides augment) they might be becoming irrelevant
mordecai is their best song, and dont get me wrong i love btbam but ive realized that sometimes they just make some really weak songwriting choices
