Even if the abuse didn’t happen (and I believe it did), it’s not normal for a man in his 30's and 40's to actively pursue friendships with young children. I understand he had a rough upbringing himself which explains why he did what he did, but it doesn’t excuse his actions.

People victim blaming these guys is exactly why it’s so hard for victims to come forward to begin with.
