"Mid Deftones is 100% better than all of their clothes.
I’m not saying this is mid…I need more time, but Ohms and Gore were mid.
1) KNY
2) WP
3) DE
4) ST
5) ATF
6) Adrenaline
7) SNW
8) Ohms
9) Gore"
I feel you, still good album, but around bottom.

"Even Fantano, who has never particularly enjoyed Deftones, liked all the tracks that he heard from it. He's probably giving it a 6-7/10. The highest he has given them has been 6 for KNY thus far"
To add to this he just jammed locked club and ecdysis on stream and seemed to dig them too. Who knows how the review will actually fare tho haha but 6-7 seems on the money

Locked Club, Ecdysis and Infinite are the clear highlights here imo.

Pink Cellphone is interesting. I like it anyway. And if you didn’t know English you might think of it as like an M83 song

I like Locked club, but it's almost unanimously considered as the worst song here. In any case, neither locked club, nor ecdysis are actual highlights. Infinite Source for sure is.

someone pointed out that the intro of souvenir sounds like live to win and now i can't take that song seriously

I will say the most egregious thing here is that final riff on Cut Hands during the outro, which is basically identical to the Diamond Eyes one

I’ve just decided that I guess I dig the low key “boring” tracks the most. So yeah I’ll agree Locked Club is a highlight for me. Never understood the hate for it. In fact I’d probably say Milk of the Madonna is my least favorite track on here (still banging tho). My Mind is A Mountain was the better single and half of this is as good as some of the best of their discography. So I wonder how many more hot takes this comment could have

I've seen plenty of interviews now where Carpenter talks about just liking certain chords and always going for that one sound that he loves.
Unfortunately, post-SNW this has resulted in a major chugfest in almost every album, with truly creative and unique riffs few and far in between. And he used to have some killer riffs back in the day. He's easily the worst member of the band currently, purely because of him resting on his laurels

Still, those chords work very well a lot of the time, which is why I can still enjoy them, but they are starting to stretch the flexibility of their modern day formula too much for sure

God cXz is PHENOMENAL.
Also Steph is the best member on here followed closely by Chino.

Yeah, the end riffs of both Infinte and Cut Hands sound directly like Diamond eyes and Rosemary. Milk is mein 2. Souvenir is Pompeji and tempest melted together, i think about is sextape 2 and the rest, besides Locked Club, Ecdysis and Infinite is not that impressive imo.

Abe is always a beast, but this is the best Steph has sounded since KNY. His riffs were boring as hell on Ohms and he didn't write that much on Gore. Steph just does it for me here. His riffs are driving and energetic the entire way through.

Abe is the star here tbh. Some of his finest work.
