Yes. The lyrics here are really good. The Marvelous Orange Tree makes me tear up. All the songs are very strong lyrically but Doberman and Orange Tree take top songs lyrically for me. Magnolia felt like a throwback to Pecan Tree lyrically which was neat. But yeah they have always been strong in that department. I always liked the lyrics from From the Kettle onto the Coil

Interesting he mentioned with his live presence he's going for something between Freddie Mercury and Phil Anselmo

Hope they tour down in Aus

I appreciate how so many of his lyrics rhyme... you would have no idea if you weren't reading them

I need help. Can’t stop spinning this album. It’s literally that fucking good. I amassed 1441 minutes between March 28 and March 31 according to Apple Music. I said I had to have listened to it about 12 times in 3 days. Makes sense.

I've been dreaming of somewhere seeing

Us close to the knives

If I could have a morning

To have a moment, a silver lining

I'd stick them in, twist them down, bury with ease

^this part of Winona makes me feel like I'm flying

Man, this is such a fantastic album. It really is so approachable and yet delightfully dense and complex. Definitely a peak in Deafheaven's career.

Have a feeling this will lose some of it's appeal over time for me but for now it's fantastic. Best track varies, with revelator and body behavior as standouts

for me a 5 has no tracks that I view as filler or inessential and that includes interludes and skits. So there goes 90% of double albums imo but what can you do

Mostly same for me, but an album with some filler or a few meh tracks are offset by an album packed with utterly stellar tracks (double album or otherwise), I’ll give it a 5. Very few to no albums are actually perfect imo.

But when it does come to double albums, I think the only one I have 5’d is Smashing Pumpkins — Mellon Collie. Definitely some throwaway tracks, but the rest of it is so fucking awesome that it’s a hard 5.
