ah ok i more understand from that point i suppose. but i don't need innovation to be clear, just feels to me godspeed has more drifted towards more standard post-rock with flourishes of their old stuff. that's why i say autopilot. i get liking it but i just don't get much out of it personally.

Agreed, post-rock is a genre that has been running around in circles for many years now. Adding vocals and/or synths would help, but then it’d be called shoegaze, post-metal, industrial etc, depending on heaviness and texture. But as long as they write songs like Pale Spectator, I’m happy.
