Metal albums with pyramids on the album cover usually do slap. Iron Maiden and Gamma Ray come to mind...

Just finished this. Shit slaps. Very nice, very dense. Need to listen again.

I think I prefer Stargate to Message. There's a couple of parts on Message I using those pinch harmonics that don't jibe with the rest of the song. But then it also includes that echoey guttural "UGH" which is so badass that I can forgive the slight hiccups present in the song.

Stargate I-III is sort of perfect to me.

Absolute Elsewhere is also a 70s prog project featuring King Crimson members.

100%. Stargate ripped as a metal track, the synth integration was slick (and the synths themselves killer) and I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through, Message (on first listen) didn't grab on the strength of its riffs (those slightly-flanged pinch harms aren't it imo) and the songwriting leant much harder on ear-catching jank. the proggy section just before they went into Floyd-mode was maybe my least fav, sounded like early 10s Intervals-esque tech metal at its leat interesting
entertaining album though and defs more good than eh - think zaru's takes have been the most on point here generally (both in misgivings + eventually positive concessions). will be coming back to it

Johny gave this a 3.5 with a potential re-evaluation. Sputnikmusic is definitely approaching its rapture....

The Message takes a lot longer to sink in. It also provides a more positive mood, not necessarily less heavy though. It grew as hell on me and I think it makes the album a lot richer, instead of a Stargate 2.0. I get some dub hints in one or two transitions between tracks (like at the end of MEssage II to III f.e.) this shit is crazy XD

The hype around this record is giving me Terminal Redux vibes, will have to check this out.

It would be that vibe if this was super overrated like Terminal Redux lol.
