I just hear like maybe 5% bm in this and that's what everyone is latching on to, what are y'all listening to?

What Alcest did with combining shoegaze and BM was sweet, but already was decently removed from the core/original sound of BM. Then they evolved their sound over time, others copied them, others copied those copies and evolved, etc.
What we have here is something with elements that are decently removed from Alcest's copycats evolved sound. So yeah, 5% sounds about right lol

I just think people hear blast beats and moody tremolos and immediately think BM even though tons of genres do that

“I'm so sick of this being called black metal tbh holy shit”
I’m not really arsed if people wanna make themselves look so emphatically uninformed, but it’s defo completely and utter nonsense, lol.

Just caught them at a show in London - they played this album in full and it was such a great show.
Was also cool to see my friends in Chalk Hands support them in a packed out venue.

“and don’t be fooled by the above guys, as sometimes even decent bands do them”

@Demon I'll admit after throwing together that list I looked at it, remembered that I was in the Frail Body thread and expected to catch some flack haha.
And thanks for the fantasy reminder, I think I should have the title of "Fantasy Champion" under my username, pretty sure that was part of the deal.

playing purist over bm and skramz has unfort been a waste of time ever since deafheaven made their career + set a standard for their whole subgenre from ripping off envy

In their defense though, is there a better band to rip off than envy
