Yeah honestly when I listen to this I start with The Summit and quit at Halcyon lol. And sometimes skip We live in a strange world

Spotify rec'd me this and I assumed it would fall at least somewhere in the electronic spectrum, looks like that was a wholly inaccurate assumption. Hmm...

I'm less enthused now in fact, although a rare triple D 2/5 sighting is intriguing.

I think this is some good dumb djenty fun. If you’re expecting anything revolutionary you’ll be let down but there are some decent songs and a very good vocal performance throughout.

Yeah, there was initially a shitload of hype for this but I think it settles nicely into a 3.5. It's a solid album but if they really want to approach a 4 average rating they need to release something that feels a little more thematic. The singles seemed to suggest this with reoccurring lyrics about gardens and nature, but then the rest of the album comes across more like a collection of singles which, while good, are not transcendent.

The fem cleans deserve a different album entirely, easily the best thing about this. I’m not really sure what they’re even doing here, but I can’t imagine it being better without them given that they occasionally distract me from how uninspired everything else is.

'I will never spin this whole album ever again, their music doesnt fit the album format' (2)
There's some truth in this statement as it feels like a collection of ideas rather than a cohesive whole. Stuff like this has a tendency to rub me up the wrong way.
'Hey, demon! Have you checked their s/t ep?'
No, I hadn't even heard of this band a few days ago, why?

Because the instrumentation there is way more interesting and the vocals aren't so overprocessed as well Some of the best in the genre imo

I don't really know what this 'genre' is tbh. It djents, it's ugh 'progressive' (I guess, who knows?) and it has some core leanings.
Do I need to go and listen to Terrasect for ref?

The s/t ep is Tesseract worship, that true. It's the Tesseract kind of prog metal/prog core stuff. But they did ot better than Tesseract there imo

The genre is metalcore...

Sounds a touch vague... maybe I just don't listen to this brand of metalcore then, because it certainly smells different to me. Elements exist though, sure.
I just wondered if it was a scene/newfangled 'style' or whatever, guess I'll go with what kalk said.
