Zaru’s got a bit of an old man shakes fist at clouds vibe at the moment.

tbqh I'm not convinced this has more or fewer ideas than Thrice Woven, shit just sounds better

You rate the production better or the flow in general?

production and role of acoustic sounds in the arrangement are both up a notch, but idk if either are entirely New Things for this record. from the v limited amount of attention i've paid to actual Criticism on any site, i feel that folk not in love with this album are mainly not in love with how it doesn't reinvent this band as a franchise, which is a perspective i understand

but also i don't understand it bc why would you demand novelty value from good atmospheres lmao fking dummies

Probably something to do with jaded views and people’s consumption of available music. We’re a weird bunch if nothing else.

Its really cool how industrial elements are blended in this woodsy atmosphere so coherently XO

i'd understand the criticism of 'not reinventing themselves' if they hadn't challenged themselves as songwriters but they really have. there's a lot of things and elements here they haven't done before - and they pull it off tremendously well.

"Haven't listened to this yet though" fix that

I see no need on going back now.

Find the first two tracks kinda boring but it picks up pretty good after that. Not sure I like this as much as Two Hunters or Thrice Woven. Though something tells me this is less immediate and more of a grower than those two.

Just gave this the first spin. First imprssions are excellent indeed. The production is outstanding and musically I loved it. I'm going to start with a 4 but I can see this growing on me. Possibly my first pick for WITTR best album right now.
