My vinyl copy of DDTM arrives today, so maybe I'll have a greater appreciation for some of the tracks after hearing it without headphones. I would agree that some tracks like Lightning come off as a little corny. I'm sitting around a 3 or 3.5/5 for this album.

Regarding Nearer My God, I love how that album just grew and grew on me after repeated listens. The first half of NMG absolutely slaps. The second half was a little strange but holy shit the last 2 closing tracks (Won't Drown and Lambert) are so good? I agree with some people that Heartbeats is a little annoying, but the opening 30 seconds and those drums sound so good. I get some Radiohead vibes (Amnesiac years).

This shipping tracker says my three from the band website will be here tomorrow.

Really thinking about just getting the rest of the variants

Maybe Newbury has some.. may take some time tho.

I also live in Europe so when it’s finally on its way, it still takes 2 weeks.

A grower of an album for sure. It didn’t grab me at first, but after multiple listens it finally clicked. I just can’t get over how Where the Lightning Strikes Twice sounds like a cut off Some Kind of Salvation by The Features

Beacons is definitely akin to The Killers or even some early Jack Antonoff stuff (i.e. Steel Train or the first Bleachers album).

I used to see the Killers parallel as an insult

But in light of their new album that's actually some pretty high praise for Foxing

That just made me go listen to the new Killers album and I am shocked that I dig it. I have listened to every new release of theirs for years because a friend of mine loves them and nothing has ever stuck at all.

2021 is potentially even worse than 2019 and there is nothing to do but sit back and quietly hum along with the nailbiters insisting that most worthwhile records are coming from small town ennui minioperas and one line chorusrock. it's not like they're about against much.
