Hot take: "Transmitting Receiving" is the best song here and at least a 4.5

i listened to this new one a bunch and now the effect has been that random Good News For Bad News choruses and verses keep entering my mind and i start singing lines from that album.

@smash I mean lyrically it's basically a stream of consciousness with no logic whatsoever but Isaac somehow manages to make that approach work like a charm - it feels hypnotic if I'm in the right mood. And the atmosphere and melody of the chorus just ~hit right~ for want of a better phrase.

Hot take: Transmitted Receiving is the worst song Modest Mouse has released since 1994.

Probably a couple other tunes here that could make a solid run at that title, but yeah Transmitting is no bueno

Transmitting is fine lmao, it's not even bad, just kinda average. There are WAY WAY worse and decidedly more obnoxious songs here and on Strangers

I'd take Transmitting over the more 'rockin' ones like walking and running and fuck a spider any day

walking and running and spider for worst [2] those songs are painful

transmitting is incoherent gibberish but its too boring to be as bothersome

"Spider" and "Leave a Light On" for me

The latter is particularly frustrating because musically it has a lot of promise, really good pop instrumental... and then Isaac shits all over it

"Walking and Running" isn't a highlight but I'd rate it a notch above those two. Bit jarring how the chorus sounds almost nothing like Isaac though

I think if they'd dropped Walking and Running, Transmitting, and Spider from the tracklist and released it as-is otherwise, the flow would be much better and possibly also the reception from listeners.

Okay tbh yall are right spider is easily the worst thing here, somehow painfully obnoxious while also being instantly forgettable

Never Fuck a Spider is decent despite some unbearable moments. Walking and Running, opener and Light are absolutely the worst here
