was gonna turn the fact of SW cementing his boomer legacy via the fucking Spectator into a sputnews thing but this article drained the life out of me. ugh.

'Welcome, Steven Wilson, to the world of people who don’t need you to turn in ever-decreasing circles.'
jesus christ

the way that article wobbles its hatchet at boomer prog AND zoomer streamers at the same time puts enough venom in my blood to kill a horse

It was barely an interview. So much of it was a journalist filling in the gaps with his own hatred of prog.

Man, I shouldn't have watched is live album... The music was great but I think the more I dig into his persona the more I just have to separate the artist from the art.

Was he so obnoxious on the live album? Lol
He sounds like an old cunt in more interviews than I like to admit

don't critics have any sense of self-respect when drooling over SW's new album? It's one thing to like the album, and another to praise it as some sort of genious offering

maybe they like it idk

It shows how most big magazines don't have much integrity left tbh. I prefer sput over most of them any day, because here I feel like most reviews are honest

it feels like most reviews I read nowadays are just ways to praise any album. I read three reviews on the latest Epica album, and all of them were frantic about how it's like - the best thing they've ever done, and only Louder's one was ''it's more of the same tbh, but hey, no need for change in this genre''
I prefer sput over most of them any day [2]

"Was he so obnoxious on the live album? Lol"
I would say he just comes across as very Bono-esq. I get that a performer, especially in a massive concert hall, needs to be slightly over dramatic to translate to the audience, but he just did some things that felt.... forced. Also, about halfway through right before he played "Permeating", he told the crowd that if they didn't like pop music they were a pretentious fuck.
|
| |
Bono would never say that

"he told the crowd that if they didn't like pop music they were a pretentious fuck."
Ironically, he is the same guy who said Eddie Van Halen sucked because he was all technique and no soul, which also sounds pretentious as fuck

Hear the sound of music drifting in the aisles
Elevator prozac stretching on for miles
The music of the future will not entertain
It's only meant to repress and neutralise your brain
Soul gets squeezed out
Edges get blunt
Demographic
Gives what you want
One of the wonders of the world is going down
It's going down I know
It's one of the blunders of the world that no-one cares
No-one cares enough
Now the sound of music comes in silver pills
Engineered to suit you, building cheaper thrills
The music of rebellion makes you wanna rage
But it's made by millionaires who are nearly twice your age
Soul gets squeezed out
Edges get blunt
Demographic
Gives what you want
One of the wonders of the world is going down
It's going down I know
It's one of the blunders of the world that no-one cares
No-one cares enough

Kinda wish he held off with this record... and came out with something better.
