Jim has 'quit' Fates Warning a few times, but eventually the itch overtakes him.

I'd be totally satisfied if they just continued with an occasional tour. They don't have to write any more music as far as I'm concerned. I don't like the finality of the term 'quit' though. Throw us a 15 date tour every 5 years or so, even if it's not in my town. Keep it going in some fashion....

Haha yeah, even he knows none of his other projects are quite like Fates

I’d like another Jim and John Arch album.

Yea, would be nice. But please let Arch shut up for a few bars every now and then lol
Last album was a bit much in this regard

I'd actually be more excited about a Jim / John release than another Fates Warning release. I'd also agree that John should give the music some more space from time to time, but he does only get like one album every decade or so, so he has to make the most of it.

Keeping up with all the Fates Warning member projects since the band went on a break. There's a new one, Withering Scorn. It's a metal/thrash project featuring both Drover brothers (ex-Megadeth), Joe Dibiase, and Henning Basse (Firewind, Metalium, and Mayan). It's definitely more standard Heavy Metal / Thrash than prog, but the three singles weren't bad.

In an interview for Prog Magazine for his sophomore solo album, Ray Alder says that Fates Warning won't release new music unless otherwise stated, however they will remain as a (live?) band.

Not sure yet tbh. My most listened to are Awaken the Guardian, Parallels and A Pleasant Shade of Grey, and I need to listen to the other ones a bit more. Might make a list over the next few weeks!

I'm not sure what to make of this:

Good song, and obviously happy that they're making music, but I will always choose to have Joey and Bobby in there too....

Yeah. The fact there's no drummer or bass player listed on the article (and nothing prominent in the song) could be concerning over the course of an entire album. Having said that, I really like the song.
