i bought this album when it came out and thought Citizen Erased was dull as heck at the time and still do now
like the drum + bass interplay is cool as hell but the actual loud verse, loud chorus, soft verse, soft chorus process is excruciatingly dull and then they follow it up with a really unadventurous ending
Bellamy's fragile, introverted arcs of vocal mewls lead you to shipwreck like a siren on the outro's narcotic reef 4/10 the actual song is a butt
luckily stuff like Space Dementia and Micro Cuts do actual interesting things so they can get away with having a seven minute waste of space as the linchpin of the album

"its always been the weakest for me. it just doesnt compare to any other track imo, especially the first half of the album"
Really? I love the creepy, desolate feel of the verses, and the chorus is a transcendent thing of beauty to my ears. To each their own, though

lol Citizen Erased ends perfectly, it is their best song.
Resistance is shite
2nd Law is worse
Drones is good but not good enough to make up for the two aforementioned turds

i still really love citizen erased, don't get me wrong. that whammy pedal guitar solo is one of my favorites because it sounds kinda glitchy and fucked up but it works

idk Citizen Erased's ending is like the only moment in their discog where it feels like the emotion is genuinely there (Soldier's Poem is the only other I can think of) that last line brings the feels
always loved how this paranoid anti-government rocker could end with such a simple emotional statement
