Are the non-ImWald releases really EPs? I thought they were demos. Or is that the same thing?

Omg. They are quite long for extended plays aren't they? It is a contested format anyway.
This is on now, third listening session, looking forward to it!

I still think Steineiche is the best. It's also quite different from most others. And the way it opens is so good.

LMAO...MetalArchives says its like that...10 demos, 4 splits, 1 Full Length and "compilation" of whatever now...
@siIverspawn TKS for making it easier to start
@Park TKS for making it harder
@Trif you have to take care of that rate

Discogs lists them all as LPs.
This would also fit with that idea:
In the United States, the Recording Industry Association of America, [...] defines an EP as containing three to five songs or under 30 minutes. On the other hand, The Recording Academy's rules for Grammy Awards state that any release with five or more different songs and a running time of over 15 minutes is considered an album, with no mention of EPs.
In the United Kingdom, any record with more than four distinct tracks or with a playing time of more than 25 minutes is classified as an album for sales-chart purposes.

3D I'd say to start with Das Tor and Winterkaelte
I don't see how these records could be considered as EPs tbh
|
| |
dunno i think this guy is pretty consistent and its not like every release sounds the same
hence all

Maybe the dude will next make a 4 hour album and it will be the only proper LP, this the only EP and the other ones all demos.

Winterkaelte and the self-titled are generally considered his masterpieces. The former is dense, thunderous, and bleak. Flute melodies and choirs peeking through a storm of buzzy riffs. S/T is more melodic and pensive, with violin and higher-pitched vocals that sound like wails instead of screams. I'd start with one of those or Das Tor, which is very airy and synthesizer-driven, with more defined drumming and repeated motifs while the guitars are way distant -- more like Darkspace.

TKS...I do want to check all that out...although, when I start thinking of it, all I want is to put this on again, for now...

I haven't been able to play any of his other stuff since this dropped. I'm sure I will eventually but this is just the best version of everything I love about his sound for 2 hours. Can't beat it.
@loveisamixtape Kalteschauer is tied with Le reve for my favorite track here. Those riffs are colder than my ex's heart.

I love the lofi sound here.
