Yup, it wouldn't be so different just from a remaster. I always felt that the production dragged it down a little, but the new version didn't improve everything, just gave it some pros and other cons. Besides, it doesn't fix the songwriting, lol.

To me some songs almost hurt my ears, I can't even listen to them.
The only good thing about it is Sell it to the World's new version.

hmm there is a bit of a resemblance I suppose. I can't believe how visceral he sounds tho, one of my all time favorite growls and it feels super weird to say it given that he only started using it 5 years ago and the band is around for super long. Nick is just the perfect metal vocalist for me and this transformation just cemented that

Disappointed with this album. The opening song is really good, same with Ending Days and Ravenghast. But I didn't like songs like Serenity and Ghosts, maybe too predictable for me. Good thing this album is down to 3.9 now, I didn't get the hype (it was up to 4.3 for a long time)
I also discovered Faith Divides Us and Tragic Idol 1-2 months ago but those two immediately clicked with me with not really any song I don't like.

Glad you liked the 2 other records, but kinda bummed you have this so low. It's so obviously better to me than TI and better by a margin than FDUDUU even tho I fucking love that record to bits. Also, I don't think this should ever be under a 4. The only really predictable song here, to me at least, is Forsaken, but I fucking hate Ghosts' chorus, the rest of the song is super dope

usually when I need goth music I choose dark wave (80's & 90's, but most are european as there were tons of them from germany alone from the late 80's to the mid 90's, but I love american ones too, especially Lycia and This Ascension for example or early London After Midnight) or goth rock like Faith and Pornography era The Cure, Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Virgin Prunes, UK Decay etc.
But Paradise Lost does a great job sounding like "goth" (many other gothic metal bands don't really achieve that), especially on Faith Divides Us, I love the atmosphere (dark but also rainy) and the melancholy on that album that's why it's maybe my favourite of them so far, followed by Tragic Idol. I always like the ethereal parts in their songs when they drop the heaviness for a moment.
Good example of this is the part in I Remain from 1:50 on. It's wonderful.
