i mean, i hear it on a superficial level - but folklore was just a wardrobe change for taylor's pop writing, whereas this feels much more distinct and organic for hayley maybe. certainly easier to take on its own terms, to which end having her reference folklore is actively a little off-putting tbh

I agree. Feel like if she cut out 4-5 tracks it'd be a much more consistent release, but I've listened a few times now and think I like it more than Petals.

yeah, i remember not being super interested in Petals after I (minus a few) whereas for Ego, cut 5 songs at most and I think we've got something fantastic
