I’m not even a hater, I have pillars of serpents, kirisute gomen, and rain on my gym playlist, but the portion I listened to here didn’t even deliver on the catchy gym banger angle

if you're looking for a gym banger here try The Defiant. it might work, it might not. i dont know. all I know is i loved this.

the vocals sound kind of weird. I think some of the double tracked screams sound weirdly out of phase, and then the cleans seem pretty strained

I’ll check it out. Always looking to expand the gym playlist

This is a cute little album. Basically TSatS part 2. Very inoffensive and straightforward. I doubt I'll jam it again tho.

Found this to be pretty boring and a noticable step down from the last record.

Definitely a step-down but not abhorrently so

it is a step down but with how good Sin is does that even matter?

There is no way this is a classic. You might think it's good, but when TSatS came out before it, which was such a massive bump in quality, you can't say this 'part 2' of that record, where I can understand some would call it a classic, is a classic...

I just feel like Heafy doesn't GO FOR IT anymore. probably at a 3.5 for me, but I wanna let it stew.
That said, I jammed ascendancy on the way to work today and Drowned and Torn still fuckin slays.

yeah no this isnt a classic

A record doesn't have to be a 'classic' for me to 5 it, I just have to like it. A lot.

The closer and SUY are great tracks. The only track I really didn't enjoy at all is Bleed Into Me, which I just found super corny.

Yeah that's definitely the radio single of the record. Scattering The Ashes is also pretty much just cleans, but it's done much better imo.
I'm not feeling this quite as much as TSATS, but I don't feel like dropping my rating yet. Obviously I'm a little biased towards these guys.

This is fine, I guess. Solid Trivium release, but kind of a letdown after Sin. There weren't any tracks that really stood out to me *that* much, but I might give this one or two more listens to see if it grows any

Good review mate, there are some interesting songs and decisions, the drummer is really good but In general the album lacks something, maybe sometimes there are too many catchy (chorus) parts to get into the songs. They tend to break the feeling of complexity after achieving it for just one second.
