ok finished this and I'm still torn. the third track feels largely unnecessary, sections of the closer are really good but idk, somehow this still feels bloated at 30-whatever minutes

Closer should have been more concise 4 sure and drags this down a bit but the first two tracks are soooooo freaking good its insane

they're definitely good, but nothing's blowing me away at all, definitely feel like I've heard similar pinch abuse elsewhere, and the riffs on the whole either aren't anything to write home about, or the mixing is weird enough to where it stifles what sounds to be something somewhat intriguing. dont really like where the guitars sit tbh

Lmao as a guitar player can confirm the pinch/bend/whammy in the first song like a minute in is not only genius, the way the guitarists reuse the motif like 45 seconds later is equal the old composition genius of the 90s DM overlords

As a guitarist I really think this is above most of the genre this decade from a guitar phrasing perspective

and as another guitarist, I hear they're obviously talented, but also reusing 90s dm tropes and relying on that doesn't equate to genius to me, it equates to laziness

haven't heard anything melodically here that I haven't heard elsewhere

Just trying to nail home how not average this is from a guitar perspective, altho the band prob does throw too many transitions in at times
