Glad to see at least someone else dissing this. I feel like I stepped into another dimension whenever I see someone praising this. A 99 on metacritic like wtf this shit is awful

The reviews have been pretty ridiculously positive, but I mostly agree obviously. Only flaws I can see is a bit too saccharine at times and the second disc gets pretty meandering.

Don’t understand why anyone would get more worked up over the positive response to this one than ‘Skeleton Tree’

If there was a time to get mad it was probably with the release of Skele

I have decided that this is...fine. Just inspired me to go back and listen to their better stuff. Was hoping this would grow on me after a few listens and it did, but not much. Basically on par with Skeleton Tree but for very different reasons, imo.

I approach this album almost as I would a film - if I reach for it I play the whole thing, in order, and have a very similar experience every time.

Not sure I'd dip into it or put a song from this on a playlist or play it multiple times in a row.

Guess I'm saying it's even more of a niche listen than Skele

damn I keep trying to get into Nick Cave but it ain't happening. I guess I just don't get it. Musically, there's nothing happening aside from quiet, cheap synths and the occasional piano or violin. It feels empty. And Nick is 62 but sings like he is 80. Lyrically he is on point, and I appreciate the passion and heart he puts into it. I know he is genuine. But I just can't find much here to latch onto
