I gotta say this just doesn't cut it for me as much as the others. I understand she was trying to strengthen her songwriting over style on this but I just find it a little too mellow and aged over her previous melancholic and crushing. It's Chelsea so it's still good but this might be on the tail end of my favorites of hers.

Pretty much exactly how I feel. I might like Grime and Glow more than this tbh, and I never even liked that album all that much.

I enjoy this but it really hasn't grabbed me, the first listen was the best.

probably my fav chelsea. perfect for chilly fall days when you're not in the mood for her heavy/electronic/industrial stuff.

most of her stuff I feel depends on mood and context, ya can't just casually listen to this a few times in your musty apartment and be like "oh yea it didn't capture me"

It's not that it doesn't capture me, it's that usually she makes these intriguing soundscapes that build upon her lyricism and delivery. I can tell this is a more personal release and I think it was necessary for her to make this album to build upon her craft, I just can't enjoy this as much as her past work. Which is a shame because usually her acoustic/lofi/folksy stuff is my favorite of hers.

Excellent album, is definitely a "mood" record. Good for night driving, Campfires at 3am, smash time with a goth chick, etc. Good stuff.

I have to be in the right mood for this one, but when the time is right, I think it's great overall. Have to say Side A is the stronger half of the album cause Side B is where it dips slightly for me.

Late September through the winter months is peak Chelsea Wolfe time for me. Whenever I do listen to this album though, so far I can’t bring myself to not play it all the way through.

I've listened to this 5x more than Hiss Spun already. The tour she's on right now is absolutely stunning. If you have the chance, see it for yourself.

Double comment but I'll say that her songwriting and vocal performance is some of the strongest in her career on this one.

Yeah despite not loving this record I’m really excited to see her live.
A little snippet of footage of Mother Road I saw on her IG story made it sound really good in a live setting

I love both but go see Cave In (saw them two weeks ago). Chelsea will be back. Cave In coming back to play shows after this tour run though is anyone’s guess.
