So it's either controversy or circlejerk for you? And you think this is good argument. O..K..

Well, carry on being bored and disappointed, I'll try to leave you to it.

Any album that Pika doesn't immediately 1 or 5 should be considered controversial, I mean if even he can't conjure up an extreme viewpoint then it must be an oddball release (as far as general reception goes).

It's weird how much people talk about the artist's personality or integrity in pop threads, it really throws me off, on one hand I'm thinking 'who cares right? It's about the music' the other part is just generally dumbfounded at how detached I must be from pop culture. I have literally no opinion on this lass outside of what I hear in her music, some of the lyrics may change my perception of her as a person, but I don't over-analyse her on this basis. Having preconceptions about the artist will invariably effect your judgement, it's inevitable.

I know zilch about her - I just know I see her face places and songs on radio = pop star

As said before, that doesn’t happen with Weyes Blood or the like

I just know she is a famous pop star - no idea how she votes, if she has a nail polish range or if she’s ever stepped out with a girl etc etc

Is she married?

Clearly some people do, to the point of psycho-analysing her intentions/politics etc. It's bloody annoying tbh. It makes me want to go and hide in the obscure metal threads, where no gives a damn about the artist's personality unless obvious controversy strikes.

Give it another year or two, and no black metal thread will exist without the "Are you sure they aren't nazis?" comments.

That would be awful, but I'm pretty sure it won't happen, we must have faith in Satan.

i remember most of the critiques this girl got back on her debut were about how she was a manufactured persona and that made it hard to connect with her music like????????????????

I feel a little less enjoyment from this with each subsequent play. 2019's most overblown album, or at least I think it is.

Lana always felt like okayish background music to me but wow she really stepped out with this album. First half jams super hard, kinda loses steam in the middle but finishes strong. Venice Bitch, baby!
