I love prog bands that shoehorn 1000-2000 different styles into an album and this didn't seem samey to me at all, except for the harsh vocals.

This album is anything but samey. Nor do I hear a prog band randomly mixing any number of styles. Just a solid and distinct techy combination of thrash, core and indie that works from beginning to end.

I think people misunderstood my comment, it was a playful dig at Mars because he doesn’t like this as much as some of us. I was saying he needed more genres/styles shoehorned onto this album like the prog he’s used to... again, to clarify, this is because he said it was samey & not distinctive enough.

This is helping to fill the Dillinger sized hole in my heart. Not sure if anyone else has made the comparison because I'm not gonna read 19 pages of comments, but this kind of makes me think of Voivod if they took a page out of Dillinger's book. I've also never listened to Extol, so I might have to jump on that.

For sure Xing and it has tDEP's bassist. I actually mentioned "the real tDEP attitude" in my soundoff. Its cool you got Voivod vibes though for thrashy side, pretty accurate friend, even without knowing Extol.

I actually gave this a listen after you recommended it to me and it's been slowly growing on me over the past few weeks.
I've been rocking the Santa hat for like five or six years straight lol. I changed it one time and was too lazy to ever change it back. 31 days out of the year, my avatar is correct. The other 334, not so much.

lolol in my country there's a saying - "Christmas is whenever a man wants" - don't know if guys have that one as well...anyways merry xmas.
It gets better with several listens. It may get tiring because its so addictive...but when you come back after a while it remains an album full of bangers.

I actually found myself enjoying the clean vocals much more this time than my prior jams. I kind of wish the clean vocals were the dominant style with the harsh vox used to really accent certain sections.
I don't believe we have a saying like that, but I'm totally gonna use it whenever someone complains about Christmas lights in November or January
