Yeah I don't blame you tbh.
The album owns but the production just feels off. Production issues are probably why their last album never rose up to a 5 for me.

It just feels so sterile to me, almost like something I would've heard on an older Veil of Maya album (the production of those early albums kind of fucks them up for me a bit) I guess. The debut's production is probably the best out of all of them.
Would love to see the next album go in the vein of the first Chariot album and be recorded completely live and raw.

"loathe the cleans in this band. So shrill."
Sums up the album as a whole, to be honest.

Luc, it’s so funny seeing you with a 1.5 when you had it at a 4.5 on release haha

I know haha. That's why I never review after the first listen or two! It's album's like this that teach me to wait a week or two.

Agent WTF? The production here is more than fine, and how in the hell does their debut sound better? that one sounds so bad...

This album just feels a little sterile, as did Everything Was Sound to an extent. I wish these heavier bands would record and produce albums in a similar fashion to the first album from The Chariot.

The production on EWS sounded massive to me. Huge improvement over TNGS. This was obviously trying to do the same thing but it went so far overboard that any depth EWS had was stripped away in place of this tinfoil texture that offers nothing more than what you immediately hear.

Though I can definitely understand how you could dig TNGS the most. It's raw and abrasive and I'd take it any day over this.

Yeah, I'm almost about to 4.5 TNGS tbh
