"I think we can all agree that Just Breathe is incredible."
Just Breathe is the only song on the album that I unequivocally love. Beyond the Pines comes close. Everything else ranges from decent to outright bad.

Just Breathe is really good yeah. Not too keen on Blood on Blood like other people are though. I laughed at the harl when i first heard it

Well... this is a bit of a mixed bag on first impressions. Still love The Grey, tho.

At first this album didn't click with me, but once it did I realized how it has moments from their other albums I've enjoyed

It's probably the most uneven album they've ever released, but the high points are high.

Yeah, there is a chance this could make it up to a 3.5, but I doubt I will think any higher than that of it. So many songs have cool/strong moments, but there are almost equal amounts of awkward/weird/weak spots to counter them.
The Dark is almost ruined by that chorus for me, which is disappointing since I really like the verses. Everything Belongs is kind of my Stay With Me for this album and is probably the only song I find absolutely skippable so far. Blood has that weird sweeping harp centered bridge that sounds completely out of place. Just to name a few.
I don't know, hopefully the pros will outweigh the cons in the long run, but I am hovering in the 2.5 to 3 range, just barely on the 3 side as of now.

Only Us, The Grey, Just Breathe, A Branch In The River and Beyond The Pines are all top tier Thrice songs. Hold Up The Light is also really good.
Edit: Wait a sec, Blood on Blood is great too. The AVG really fucking puzzles me tbh.

of the songs you mentioned I only really like Beyond the Pines and kinda sorta A Branch in the River. Everything else is meh or worse

yeah I'm embracing the 2.5. Relistening to TBEITN and even that one, which I liked but didn't love on release, blows this out of the water

This is still really bummin' me out. Also seems to get worse instead of more tolerable.

Have you guys seen the track by track Dustin and Teppei did for this? The way they talk about Hold Up a Light makes it sound like they really dislike it as much as we do

tbh i think the band have become too collaborative. you have four people writing guitar parts and then trying to find ways to shoehorn them into songs. it's just messy.

I've seen them mention it in a few interviews and they call it "overcooked" in at least one and they mention that it was one of the hardest songs to write and that they nearly beat it to death

What is the best Thrice. That is the question.
