I'd play him this, he'd have popped the cyanide cap instantly

by aimless I mean the songs have no internal logic whatsoever. they just keep tacking on more sections as if that's "development" until they hit the 4-5 min mark, then rinse and repeat. freddie said the songs "spin in place" which is a great way to put it

if internal logic is what you look for in music then you’re gonna have to apply and critique that to all kinds of genres

Internal logic? What the fuck are you even talking about, man?
Tacking on more and more sections? That's how a song works. Take Bradley Fighting vehicle for example:
Intro riff w/ vocals (A)
Clean spacey verse (B)
Pre-chorus (C)
Repeat clean spacey verse
Pre-Chorus
Chorus (D; "Staring at the sky for years)
Bridge/mini verse (E)
Chorus
Outro (F)
A-B-C-B-C-D-E-D-F.
Verses and choruses repeat; the song has an intro and outro. There's a bridge near the end, between two choruses. This is like songwriting 1 0 fucking 1. It's almost too logical if anything.

Now you put it like that I think it must be the best song ever
|
| |
Right? It just sounds like mush to me. The verses, choruses and bridges aren't distinct enough and I don't feel the songs develop in a satisfying way. That seems purposeful since they are going for an "atmospheric" feel but it all comes across as washed-out.

"Now you put it like that I think it must be the best song ever"
Never claimed for it to be the best song ever, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. Merely saying the structure of the song is common and easily recognizable. It took me one listen to break it down. What, did you join this site last week so you could try and troll some folk upon the release of a new album?
"It just sounds like mush to me. The verses, choruses and bridges aren't distinct enough and I don't feel the songs develop in a satisfying way."
If it sounds like mush, cool. No idea how that's related to internal logic. Maybe if it sounds like mush, give the album it's due time. Try active listening or something. Don't go arguing to people that there's no "internal logic" because you just really didn't spend the time to try and distinguish song structure.
Fuckin lazy, the both of ya.

I prefer the BFV surprise. What a great first track to hear after the two previously released ones.

C.S. Lucky and Indignation were at first two of my least favorite on the album. My have they grown on me. Current least favorites are I, Catapult and Drowning Potential.
tbh I feel like i should be obsessed with Aphelion but its only like a 4/5 in my head
