Saw these guys last night supporting The Menzingers. Very tight show, will check out their work today. Sounded straight up my alley.

@Feather I thought The Menzingers were excellent. They sounded great live and the crowd loved the hell out of it so that immediately makes it a lot more fun

I also really wanted to buy this and their new record on cd, but they sold out the previous show, so that kinda sucked. I'm really excited for the new record. All the singles have been amazing and rival anything on here imo

I'm liking the new album quite a lot more than this. Sounds a lot richer, and I think it's quite a bit better lyrically.

Anyone heard Mannequin Pussy? I saw they were touring with these guys and The Menzingers and checked them out because the name made me laugh, Patience is pretty awesome.

Patience is somewhere in my Top 50 albums of last year (out of....way,. way too many). Really enjoyed it, and 'Drunk II' is one of the best songs of the year. Lots of energy, wish their name wasn't so stupid haha.

New album is pretty good. But they have GOT to switch up the lyrical themes on their next release or else they’ll officially be a meme of themselves

Beach Front Property gives me chills

Theyre already kind of a meme of sadboy emo indie rock.
Or are we talking about Mannequin Pussy.

Eh idk if they’re a meme, lol. they’re still relatively unknown outside of sput. And new album’s lyrics are actually a lot different than Schmaltz. Yeah they still fall into the sadboi category but not finding it to be a retread of their last album lyrically

A lot more on the nose politically but it's pretty honest and relatable. There's a great line in Beach Front Property: 'Ducking in my seat because someone brought a bag into the movie theater'. I get a good chuckle out of that one.

Mannequin Pussy were in my top 100 albums last year.
But the new SLS will be in my top 10 this year, or higher.
And for reference MC Hammer was in my top 100 albums in 1990. YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS.
|
| |
Hammer was in EVERYBODY's top 100 for 1990. Might have cracked my top ten.

love the "yeah right" delivery in "self-destruction" on the new album. i really like the developments in the lyrics. they're still bleak and depressive for sure, but he definitely expanded his reach beyond himself this time.

new one is excellent
but they need to expand their sound in a new direction on the next one

idk i think the new album is definitely more expansive and mature sonically as well as lyrically. it's still "them" obviously but refinements are present

new ones graet but still think this is better. the writing on it gets really repetitive in places (tbf maybe it doesnt feel like theres as much diversity bc like every song that wasnt a single is in the same key), where this never feels that way to me
still really glad these guys are getting bigger tho they absolutely deserve it
