Once in the DVD "Funky Monks" John Frusciante refers to music being 4th dimensional. He said this during the recording of this album "Niandra", which he recorded and wrote partially during the time the Red Hot Chili Peppers also recorded "Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic" of which he wrote most of the parts. At first it seems it might be very far out and maybe even coming from a drugged person being way too serious and arrogant about himself, rockstarstatus maybe growing on him?! However he says very, very insightfulstuff there that is just pretty much nailing it for me and what Niandra is about and once one notices his words are words of truth: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfCgkvNTUPg
The first fourth dimensional part in the music of John Frusciante begins at 02:04 of As Can Be, the first song of "Niandra": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5hU8ldtXn0
He introduced them very often with 16th notes that bend the feelings, makes them more intense or lets them turn into a different feeling, picking up the feeling before. all clearly visible for the listener. I heard 4th dimensional music before in music history but it is here the 1st time that it was used on purpose and that the usage was even improved during the record.
There was for example never before this song that could resemble "LOVE", people were just singing about it without showing what it is in the sense of direct feeling delivered to the listener. In "As Can Be" at 2:04 there comes the resemblance of "LOVE" inside the song. People that were never in love can get an idea of what t is like right during these lines: "In the pusseeey im comin and i LOVE YOUUUUU. " It is just so direct, sincere and way overwhelming due to this 4th dimensional approach. a 3-dimensional piece couldnt grab such an intense feeling. 3-dimensional music is just "about" things/feelings.
Thanks for taking the time. Use this post wisely as a form of tutorial.

Non-Mainstream Listeners: This is the best album of the 90ies. No doubt about it in my book!

I consider this Frusciante at his music peak. Noone went this far and actually noone dares to go this far for a reason i guess.
Musically spoken he does add dimensions to the music that never before were there in a musical piece.
Untitled #12!!!!! That is the song one enjoys probably the most once one is gone REALLY into it. Life-changing experience! Just as touching as something in the vein as Decades by Joy Division!
