V much feeling this. Like, I'm honestly glad that so many of you are feeling this, and it's definitely got some great moments, but background awareness of its aoty hype makes me want to take it more seriously than I do, and whenever I try to take it more seriously it doesn't stand up as it did before. This is obviously v much my own problem, but is still quite interesting

I dont get the repeated claim (I think it's the same guy saying it) that nobody has talked about this album since it came out. Like, what album would you say people -have- been talking about? I'm wondering what the metric of "talking about" is here

I don't think there will ever be a fair comparison made between this and Daughters; they are both so polarised and so polarising

I mean before the year end list it was like at 13 or 14. Daughters is at like 90-something. There have been plenty more more-talked-about albums. I could understand this being in the top 50 maybe but I’m just saying the acclaim is beyond words. Idk. Imma leave y’all with it

It was the staff list and this album has enjoyed plenty of staff attention, so I don't get the point?

conversely, i don't think popularity equates to quality. like, yeah this was discussed a lot and hyped a lot, but even if it wasn't, who cares? the antihype this is getting now that it took the #1 spot is frankly hilarious

I gave this a second go and this is 50% yuppie folk fest music for middle aged women who go hiking in banff and 50% flaccid pop-lite for general LCD appeal

And 100% unworthy of the hype

Please dont be salty, just a hot take

most of this is fine but i honestly cant really see why someone would think its anything more than that

@Brushed: Demographics. I’m pretty sure this release has been talked about loads, the amount of pages it has isn’t necessarily the best indicator, especially here. I’ve heard this gal spoken about outside of the internet entirely, no-one has mentioned Daughters by the same measures.
