"The first 3 and Love On Repeat hold up the best. the rest of this is still great but I never feel like coming back to it because those 4 tracks just overshadow them."
Totally agree with you, except I'd throw Bloody Sweet into that mix for me. So I enjoy 5 out of the 10 tracks on here, which makes it difficult to give it a higher rating. I'm hoping this album is just a transition album for them and they can improve upon this on their next release.

I'll admit that the four tracks certainly overshadow for the first few listens... It took a good while for the middle section of the album to grow on me.

I’ve noticed people stopped talking about “Blue” lol

Which is horseshit considering it's a perfect closer on the theme of the album.

eh this grew off me a bit had to knock it to 3. I just appreciated this approach more with the solemn themes... Also, the lack of any strained moments vocally made them sort of tiresome over the length of the whole album. Instrumentally it stays really solid though so I can't knock it too much.

I'm starting to dig this a lot. Agreed that the first three tracks are incredible and overshadow the rest to some extent, though there's not a song I literally dislike. Bay of Dreams is too minimal for its own good and Love on Repeat's ending is a little ruined by Durfey's insistence on not raising his voice. In the "Love on Repeat, it's life agaaaaain" part it really sounds like he's restraining himself, which makes it rather clunky.

Might knock my rating down considering the only songs I still listen to are Charisma, Bitter Red, Bloody Sweet, and Blue.

I still don't know how I feel about this. Like... it's good, but it's missing a spark and that makes the album flow on the same frequency with very few surprises. It's pleasant in the beginning but it gets stale towards the end.

2.0 is harsh. I can understand a 3.0. It's not bad by any means, just not terribly exciting

I feel like this could fall out of my music library and I'd never even noticed. It's such a dry, one note record. The cover is ugggggggo and backs that up. I dunno. BUT, it has some okay moments and doesn't make ears bleed.

Honestly, I'm so aligned with Trebs review. Heartbreaking to know this is the same band that did TLLA. Such a powerful, dynamic, and memorable record. A h w e l l
