Yeah, Andy is about 70% of why this band is a turn-off for me

I can understand thinking this isn't as good as Wretched and Divine, but do you guys really enjoy the self titled more than this? They're not even in the same league imo. Bob Rock brought that shit down half a point because of his terrible production.

Bob Rock ruins nearly everything he touches tbh

Qualities of Bob Rock's genre; drums with the punch of a shy toddler, unbearably loud vocals, and suffocating guitar tones.

This isn't that well produced either tbh.

The production is fantastic here though, the guitar tone is monstrous

Jac, you're secretly hoping for an Ulcerate / BVB collab aren't you?

=[

@TheSpirit: The Black Album ironically is the only Metallica album I enjoy, but I felt the production was a bit of a weak point there as well.

@LoL: Check Wretched and Divine first, that's what most of Sputnik enjoys the most (contrary to the higher average for the self titled)

@Calc: How do you feel about the production?

@Mayhem: Man it's literally the first Metallica album that I could enjoy in full.

The guitar tone on The Black Album is arguably one of the best ever in metal history

I think it sounds good, gets the job done but I wouldn't say there's anything remarkable about it which makes this album worth of particular mention in that department. Note I've only heard one song though.

Yeah bloc the production on The Black Album is awesome in that regard.
