"I remember arguin in circles with sowing telling him the singles weren't going to be on their next lp and just dumped tracks and he insisted he thought they would be. Feels good to be right."
thank fucking god he was wrong.

this is a weird one for me because it's better than i expected but overall not as good as I wanted. It needed either a big anthem like Sowing Season or Degausser OR something as epic as Limousine or Noro. but it's time for my second full listen where opinions tend to become a bit more concrete.

Well we’ve got cases such as this where you release your worst singles and nonchalantly drop quite possibly your best in the middle of nowhere on a tweet on a Wednesday during the middle of the work day. And then you got ones who release their one-offs that are an omen of what’s to come (Arcade Fire). Kinda hard to gauge. I can see both sides.

since people brought it up before, i like the Nagasaki line in 137 for the reason of that's probably not something that was ever meant to be sang. great song

It's a well rounded record that touches on the sounds from their past couple records and without parodying their sound. I'm kinda surprised how they pulled it off.

I don't remember who said it but yeah I agree, my only real complaint is that there are no anthemic tracks on here. Don't get me wrong, the record is flawless as a unit, but I would have liked it if there were at least a couple of standout tracks that I could scream along to like there are on TDAG

Well this is a hell of a goodbye and I’m very happy with it if it is. I love Daisy in its own right and it is one I hold highly... now, but I think this is the album everyone wished Daisy was.

@MistaCrave I mean the guys are all essentially 40, I actually give them props for not pumping out bangers and anthemic tracks and instead making the record they wanted with plenty of atmosphere and emotion. Brand New around Deja was a band I'd blare in my car, they still are but now they're a band I much prefer listening closely to on my headphones, and I think Jesse and the crew wanted to make something for people to hear and actually listen to, not just mindlessly sing along to.

I think this is the album sound wise people thought would follow up TDAG instead of Daisy.
