If you listen to some recent live AFI he sounds really good. He stopped doing that weird yelp at the end of lines, too. I think he found a comfortable range for his present voice. He doesn't try to go too high, especially for how he used to sing during the StS days.

He still sounds fantastic live and yeah I think he's embraced his range more. His screams on STS were the best, but not gonna lie, the screams on DU post-surgery were gnarly as fuck in a whole other way.

No, I totally agree that he's been sounding great live but yano XTRMST is a lot of ummmf and I'd hate for him to do any damage to it.



he doesn't really do anything too intensive live (Miss Murder's bridge being one of the heaviest parts he does). Like...I don't think we'll ever see Death of Seasons make the setlist because of that

Death Of Seasons is their best song too, tied with The Great Disappointment. I've never seen them play either.

those both used to be my favorites off of STS. they both kinda went down with time but when I'm in the mood then damn. I was legit screaming in my dorm last year when I found out they played The Great Disappointment live

yeah for a while they were playing random songs that they almost never play. It was quite cool but caused folks to speculate if it signalled that they were retiring soon. Glad to know that isn't the case. When I found out they played Now The World I was really surprised.

I saw them play Rabbits Are Roadkill and Malleus Maleficarum in the same night and it still doesn't feel real

I saw them play 6 To 8, Lost Souls, and Sacrifice Theory a couple years ago (pretty sure those are unusual). I also heard that they've been playing Paper Airplanes, This Time Imperfect and other crazy stuff. Actually looking at their recent setlists got me really excited, there's some real curveballs in there.

I hated it upon release, I thought it was a total trainwreck. It's scary how much it grew on me over time. The only real missteps are Prelude and Miss Murder.
