It is far from just you. The second disk is entirely filler other than the last track

Cracking review, Willie. Really not that big on these guys, but there is a couple of good tracks on this. I really like Dream No More.

don't agree with the ratings, but I do with the order, except for 6-8, actually not sure yet how I'd rank those

Death Magnetic was the return to (some degree of) form album not this.

- Just Your Life is a quality opener with riffs I can recall anytime

- End of the Line is every bluesy element that worked on Load put in one song and it does its thing pretty well.

- The Song that Never Ends (sorry, TDTNC) is a good Metalli-ballad even if a bit overlong.

- All Nightmare Long is distinctive for latter day Tallica, a memorable actual chorus and song

- the last three tracks end the album pretty well.

Ok the rest is mostly disposable but that still seems a better deal than what we have here.

yea DM had its flaws, but I think it was more memorable than this one, and had some really strong moments. too bad that there isn't one song on it for which I'd say it's fully realized, like it's well put together, because of repetitive overlong structures and awkward transitions. opener and all nightmare long are probably the best songs there.

but I'm probably a bit biased here with my nostalgia for DM. it came out when thrash metal and metallica were my life lol, at the beginning of hs, and me and my friends were all hyped because tallica was returning to its m/ roots and all, and although I think the album doesn't deserve more than a 3, it does hold a special sentimental value idk.

Haven't jammed this one as much as I wanted but I can't see the DM comparisons apart from the similar production. DM was a nod to their thrash era while this is more of a Black Album/Load/Reload 2.0.

I really don't like Load or Reload, Metallica trying to play stadium arena hard-rock didn't clicked with me in the slightest even though there are some good songs : Fuel, Until It Sleeps, Hero Of The Day, Bleeding Me, their best song from the 90's The Outlaw Torn and Devil's Dance.. but the rest of those albums are really, really weak.. I like St. Anger way more than those albums - that album atleast is heavy, brutal - shame about the drums, lack of guitar solos and almost every song on that album is too goddamn long..

This new one in my opinion is a mix between the good moments of their 90'era and some 80'era moments with a modern (trash) twist.. mainly the first CD is pretty great.. fast trash, good riffs and melodies with couple of prog moments just like on the Justice album.. even the worst songs on this album(s) "Am I Savage?" and "Murder One" aren't as annyoing or boring as the most stuff on Load or Reload..

"Spit Out The Bone" is their best song since any song from Justice, that means their best song in 28 years (!)...

Compared to DM, the production and the perfomance of James is better here than in DM and this album has songs like "Spit Out The Bone", "Dream No More" (a pretty good combination of The Thing That Should and Sad But True) or "Moth Into Flame", which are all better in my opinion songs than anything on DM.. DM on the other hand is more solid as a whole album and is more consistent... both aren't anything spectacular (around 3.5/5 for me) but are a fun listen anyway and both are better than any their album from the 90's

agreed manos, i think the comparisons are strictly because of them being their 2 most recent releases and what everyone's personal preference is, between the two
