I don't understand what the big problem is with deathcore. It can be the best of both worlds but apparently death metal fans hate metalcore and metalcore fans hate death metal?

i don't think most people necessarily have a problem with the subgenre as a concept (though i'm sure plenty do), but with the fact that bands under that label nearly always play a very diluted variation of either style. it's fine to like it though.

It's just a strange case where I think the audience for it would love it, but it's a newer genre without much support and is attracting the wrong people and getting a shit ton of hate. Metalcore built itself up to something that's considered loved and that wall of love blocks out most of the hate. There isn't enough of an audience built up for deathcore to block out the pure shitting on the subgenre receives.
Like, I feel kind of guilty to admit it because of how much hate it gets, but I really do like deathcore. I fucking love Cryptopsy's deathcore album that everyone hated. I think people who DO enjoy deathcore maybe should put some effort into populating these comment sections and listening/rating, reviewing, whatever. I think it deserves love.

i wish i liked it myself; i always want more music to enjoy and appreciate. the red chord's debut is pretty sweet but people say that's not deathcore

I'll check em out. My discover weekly this week is god like, introducing me to a lot of good bands. Destrage for example, fuckin awesome band.

A lot of deathcore takes the role of melodic, mainstream metalcore and then adds the death metal influences. So you have a pretty watered down style that's usually downtuned a lot more than its metalcore counterpart (harder to distinguish between notes), generally full of breakdowns, and doesn't contain a lot of individuality or innovation.
Some Deathcore is really cool though, but I can see why some people don't even bother cuz if it's not your thing in general, you've really got to search for the bands that break the mold.

Deathcore can be amazing to listen to when it is done correctly.
But, more often than not, it lacks innovation. Just breakdowns and chugging.
Or, in the case of this band, they aim for obnoxious technicality as a "joke" (at least, that's the defense that's given).

Top 5 deathcore bands then? I'm interested in the genre, and if I think these guys sound good just imagine my opinion of the "good" deathcore bands.

Well if you think this is good more power to ya.
My top 5 are easily Shadow of the Colossus, Ovid's Withering, The Contortionist (Exoplanet only tbh tho), Ascariasis, and Slice the Cake.

This band *is* a joke, though. The "serious" band that these guys play in is Black Tongue, but even then, they're doing it for the pleasure of playing.
Seriously, I can't find how people take this band so seriously, lmao.
Good deathcore tho: Carnifex, Slice the Cake is GOAT deathcore, Aversions Crown, and Ovid's Withering. There's more good deathcore out there than people like to admit.

Yeah MarksKid, I find Death Metal for the most part too dissonant and sometimes boring for my tastes. Metalcore with a bit of a death metal influence, so darker and more technical is right about where I'm heading these days.
Good to know there's better stuff. Will check it out.
