I mean you shouldn't think of their new stuff even in the same vein as BMD. They're a completely different band now really

That being said though romulan have you checked Sounds of Decay?

Yeah, they clearly have a different sound today

Oh yeah, Sounds of Decay is great

I love their old stuff too, but they've never faltered in quality. Dead End Kings is my fav of theirs.

One of my favourite EPs rom. And yeah these guys are amazingly consistent... But if you like their old stuff but not their new stuff or vice versa I can't really fault you

This was cool, sounds like Opeth in places

Yea it's very Opethian at times

Honestly this is probably the most ambitious and dense album of their career, which is a plus and a minus depending on the song

New Opeth was a pleasant surprise too.

I'd be lying if I said that I didn't wish they were still a death/doom band, but I still dig their newer sound a lot.

First 2 albums are like death/black/doom metal for sure.

Their early material was most certainly death/doom. They started to incorporate gothic influences with BMD and went full gothic rock after that. They've had some prog influences sprinkled throughout their career too.

Saw these guys live the other night. Surprisingly heavy set list. Bucket list milestone.

I wanna see them live so bad. Was supposed to see them with Opeth and Enslaved a few years back, but my ride bailed on me. 3 of my top 10-15 favorite bands in one night and I missed it lol.

Damn that sucks dude.

I saw these guys with Opeth on the Heritage tour and they weren't that great honestly. Mostly played new songs and their production/stage presence was pretty lacking. I'd be happy to give them a second chance live at some point though.
