“For me the naive over the top use of crescendos are akin to the shallow and predictable dramas of tv and film.”

That’s actually a pretty apt comparison tbh.

I’m saying that’s your own fault for thinking that though, not the music fault. I’m saying it’s unfair to rate this and stuff like that so harshly for a reason like that. Take away anything akin to “shadow tv dramas,” and you may find something a little more to enjoy.

I dont rate this so low because of that haha. Explosions in the sky create that same image and I gave them several positive scores.

A Swan Song is one of the most achingly hopeful things I've heard. What a payoff to this whole thing.

This might be my most listened to post rock/metal record, it's so strong.

It’s meant to be a passionate farewell to him yea. But apparently that’s a corny concept to some idk.

Based on pure musicianship, it's fairly standard post-rock. Would be a solid 3.7 - 4.

Adding on the emotional weight and imagery, it's a 4.5 at least. Listening to this makes me feel profoundly sad.

Not that it really takes anything away from the song, but after watching the HBO series about Chernobyl I learned that the three divers who inspired Bogatyri never actually died from radiation poisoning, and two of them are still alive today. Guess WLTS should've done some more research, lol
