Yeah sounds a little different. Mostly the same old BDM though. [2]
They are one of the most consistent bands in metal. They release pretty much the same album over and over again but throw in some new ideas here and there. It's never anything enough to really change their signature sound, but that being said they never really disappoint. Trevor seems like a cool dude, and I always enjoy watching his interviews.

Vlad Son of the Dragon, Abysmal, threat level no. 3, and Receipt are some of my favorite melo-death and TBDM songs ever.

their strongest since deflorate. feels like they learned what does and does not work when incorporating more classical melodeath influence into their sound (everblack is not a *bad* record but is a misstep in their sound imo), so this is just a more balanced experience overall

additional black dahlia musings...
i find it interesting how their 2 worst albums (everblack, ritual) break from the 30-something minute rule previously established in their discog. both of those albums are 40-something minutes, and both also contain material that sees the band trying to force change into their sound rather than allowing the change to seep in naturally like on this record, which perhaps not so coincidentally also returns to the 30-something minute formula
