Yeah, I dropped it from 3.5 to 3. There are some decent moments, but I think I"ll find myself coming back to it less and less over time.

It's my 3rd favorite behind Colors and Alaska. I like it because it's a step in a different direction. The Great Misdirect and The Parallax 2 were similar in style and structure to Colors. They were essentially attempts at refining and perfecting the sound/style/structure/complexity they created on Colors. This one has a slight change in structure, the vocals are much much different, and the techy so-called 'wank' is IMO dialed down to a much more reasonable level. This was a good direction for them, but it's not so surprising that people wouldn't agree with me. It's meant to be a polarizing album. I also find the song-writing on this to be very strong. The tracks are more compact rather than expansive 'journeys' and 'epochs'.

Saw them a week ago and they were nyjoing themselves.... just don't get the same vibe any more from them. They talk about progressing, I feel like they're doing the opposite. Selkies and White Walls live was fucking awesome. Half the place cleared out when BTBAM came on, which was surprising to me. Even the person next to me that I was chatting with bailed because "their songs are too long to watch live". I'd say at some points I was thinking about going home but I was afraid they'd play something I've been wanting to hear.... but nope.

it's def a step in a different direction..just seems to be the wrong one. i'm all for changing things up. i just like this a lot less. but they can make whatever music they want.

I personally think this is some of their better music. Must be one of the few.
Keeping positivity
"King Redeem/Queen Serene" is by far the best thing they've ever done, imo.
I expected my 5 to go down after the honeymoon phase because I was floored first listen, but if anything, it's moved up.. Quite possibly my favorite album by BTBAM.. Maybe only beaten by Colors

Gave up after 4 listens because it just gets worse and worse. Haven't really enjoyed their albums as much since The Great Misdirect.
