uk bass is a made up genre tho. and most releases wouldn't be LPs
|

Yeah thought so. It's awful. I don't know why they'd want to publish that, it's mired in politics. You can address blackness and the racial context of the album without trying to push an agenda.
|
| |
nice dig. heligoland is too often overlooked
|
| |
pitchfork having tpab at #1 is so predictable it's a joke
i cant think of anything wittier than that
their top 50 is a mix of boring indie, edgy annoying electronic shit and shit trap rap
like wtf
|
| |
i don't think we've had many interactions on sputnik, spaceship, but you're a cool guy. i agree about them pushing an agenda (pretty overtly too, i might add). the discussion about the album can be steeped in its political leanings without resorting to the sort of profound, agenda-forcing drivel they wrote up for it
|
| |
Word Heligo is good stuff.
Also yeah UK bass is a made up name to try and shoehorn a ton of sub genres into one box.
|
| |
like for example
|
| |
Thanks Gyro, appreciate it bro. I'm pretty new around here but I graduated and work now so I waste a ton of time at work on this site.
I still read some of their reviews as their writing is quality but the things they pick to rate and how their ratings are too predictable.
|
| |
@arachist their list is basically everything from their best new music list that isn't metal
|
| |
art angels at no.3 i'm tearing up
|
| |
yeah pitchfork peeps some pretty weak shit, but i have to admit i've found some great stuff through them this year (empress of, kacy hill, and molly nilsson come to mind). i do like their reviews as well, and their writers are undeniably talented, but some of their stuff veers on pretentiousness
|
| |
i looked through their top 50 songs and there were only 2 songs i didn't know already that I dug
and one was rae sremmurd
"like for example"
garage and dubstep mostly. this isn't either
|
| |
so not garage and dubstep then
|
| |
most of their recommended tracks are bad tracks from decent albums. idk how they do it
|
| |
"so not garage and dubstep then"
what?
|
| |
lol right? they always manage to pick either the shittiest or one of the shittiest songs off of the albums they rep
|
| |
probably just being edgy
like really
|
| |
Album Rating: 3.5
Plus according to RYM this is the best UK Bass album, not that I know much of that genre but if it's true it must be a pretty weak genre ...
|
| |
what?
you're wrong
|
| |
Like usual
