Look, Fisky, the fact that we don't like Tool doesn't mean we're "casual listeners".

Have you ever heard Sigur Ros or Godspeed You! Black Emperor? Thats hardly "casual".

"I wouldn't look THAT far into it....and the whole "sh*t the bed" deal is really defecating a mattress...I think, it was written about a friend's experience at Area 51."

No...its really not about defecating a mattress. He says

"Such a heavy burden now to be the one

Born to bear and bring to all

The details of our ending

To write it down for all the world to see.

But I forgot my pen

Shit the bed again

Typical"

Hes talking about the being telling him that hes the chosen one to tell the world of its end, but he forgot his pen so he couldnt write down what he said, signifying that he "shit the bed again" aka failed again.

That basically just proved my point that you need to dig deeper into Tool songs to truely understand and enjoy them more, and the song is about a hallucination he had while on an LSD or other hallucinogen trip.

I get the feeling....I only like three or four tracks on here but they are great tracks, so the album doesn't totally suffer. Moreso than older albums though. This Message Edited On 03.19.07

Meh this article just seem like another, WHERE IS MY SECOND LATERALUS ALBUM!?!?! one to me.

Maybe if people can get over it and examine it with no expectations, no prior efforts to compare it to and you'll see this album is amazing.

The fact that you can't enjoy the second half of the album shows that you don't have any patience. It is obvious you can't see the themes behind the album, which are sticking out like a sore thumb.

Lipan Conjuring, is a part of that theme. And "Lost Keys" is about as much a filler track as "Wings For Marie (Pt. 1)" is. And I have no respect for someone reviewing Tool if they say "Intension" is a continuation of "Disposition".

"Right In Two" has dodgy lyrics? Not really... And the "Forty-Six & 2" section again is as pathetic as the "Intension"//"Dispostion" connection.

And to clarify with the filler, 10,000 days has less than Aenima. While your writing is good, you shouldn't really be writing a review for a type of music as this. It's obvious your tastes lie elsewhere. Not liking "Jambi"? That track was pure talent.

The only problem is that you haven't opened up your musical palette enough, haven't searched and heard enough to appreciate the different sounds on 10,000 days.

Next time try to sound like you're reviewing , not comparing. This Message Edited On 03.25.07

I agree with this review almost entirely, except I found both of the Wings songs to be a little boring and enjoyed Right In Two more. I can't even listen to the second half except for Intension (barely) and Right In Two. Vicarious and The Pot are both fantastic though, and save this album from being completely boring and below average. Definately my least favorite Tool album.

Oh yeah, and I'm a complete sucker for the solo in Jambi. It just sounds so cool. This Message Edited On 03.30.07

Maynard just allows his superior intellect to recite his abstract & somewhat 'away fromthe norm' lyrics, in such a way that it challenges the listener to uncover their meaning. This is not done to be controversial or more inaccessible. But more to ensure that the bands appeal does not strayntoo far into the mainstream in which they would be categorized with bands like Mastodon, S.O.A.D and even a perfect circle. The same principle can be applied to a band like isis. " Ive done the math enough to know the dangers of a second guessing". Schism, 2001.
