what's the difference between going chronologically and in recommended order in terms of time spent
You can go to the album that fans of the artist typically consider to be their best, listen, and based on how much you enjoy it decide if some of the albums that are considered to be slightly lesser are worth listening to. It's really not that complicated or absurd. Y'all are just tripping hard.

People can pick out their favourites (mine being also LA) but hearing the artist or group evolve is
more rewarding than listening at random, like Neurosis
true but neurosis is also a perfect example of a band where you should not go completely chronologically... ie skip at least PoM and tWaL and then go chronologically

@qtpie - Yes. Sometimes I disagree with the majority on what the best album by a band is (happens fairly often tbfh), but if it's
not an artist that you see yourself finding a perfect album by, then it's not that big of a deal to try to find out how other people
feel about their discog.

my point is and was that if you're actually listening to a discography it doesn't matter what order you go
by because you'll be able to connect dots where possible either way
if you need to be convinced to follow through on listening to a discography half-way through you should
probably start with the critically acclaimed albums first
