yeah but this doesnt sound like shit and detract from everything else, its the usual hyper-compressed, loud, almost midi-fied production that almost all these types of bands use (im not a huge fan of it either). everything is crystal clear and none of the instruments rly overpower the others so i dont see how it could be /THAT/ big of an issue.
for you maybe it doesn't, and that's fine, but it isn't just the compression that kills this - it's just a terrible production job all around. i used to write for angry metal guy and as such i managed to snag a more dynamic version of this (this measured DR3 and the one i got was DR11) and it honestly wasn't that much better. it's just not a good mix. the drums are sterile, the rhythm guitar has no texture at all, etc.

i mean it sounded BETTER but it really wasn't enough, like, it wasn't a total headache but the sound was still characterless, the drums still sterile and the rhythm guitars had no texture whatsoever.
