Most of this does very little for me, but the highlights are fantastic

Can't believe I hadn't read this, actually think this review is fantastic. This album breaks my heart.

This definitely grew on me over several months, just kind of wish he switched the instrumentation up a little bit here and there

Yeah, I get that. Whenever those trumpets come in, though, it gets me excited again. It's grown on me heaps, too, it started off as a 2.5. It might even grow to a 4, but some of the songs are boring.

started off as a 2.5. It might even grow to a 4, but some of the songs are boring. [2] trumpets definitely help for sure. his lyricism is really borderline as well to be honest, teetering on melodrama in a few too many places

Dis is gud. The EP is good as well. I mean, if you enjoyed this, you'll enjoy the EP. it's just more of the same.

I do like that it's all one concept though.

that surprises me if you like the lp. It's just a continuation, but I felt all three tracks were real strong.

Idk, I feel like things almost get old on this, like the same style etc. Just wasn't feeling more material in the exact same vein. Still, haven't given it more than a couple of spins so it could grow if I gave it the chance

I felt similar - I listened to this album to death, so I wasn't quite looking for something so similar. I'm sure if I listened again in a few weeks or months it will have grown on me, though.

Fair enough, it is more of the same, but I couldn't imagine it being any other way since its a continuation of the same story. You bring a good point though. I have been excited for a 2nd lp, but now that you mention it I'm unsure if I just want more of the same or something different

For sure, it wasn't a case of I felt like we deserved a stylistic change, and I certainly didn't expect one given (as you say) it's a continuation of this lp, more just this lp kind of wore me down on that style and I was kind of done with it personally. Checked the ep just in case but it proved to just be more of what I didn't want, you know?

That makes sense. The EP has significantly less lasting power than the album tbh.
