I'm starting to get into this way more after ten listens and a well established opinion. What the hell.
Title track is still a collection of plagiarised riffs even tho it sounds awesome

"Title track is still a collection of plagiarised riffs even tho it sounds awesome"
At this point this really doesn't mean jackshit. Everybody borrows from everywhere and if you look for it, you will find all kinds of similarities.
Hell, there was actually a case where a German rapper supposedly stole a melody from Dimmu Borgir. (which - as you could guess - is utter nonsense)

Yeah dude at fuck it at this point. These guys aren't all that original, but they play this style of dm just as good as anyone ever
has.

"Originality" to me is a really meaningless term. Ideas and things don't just pop out of nothingness, everything has an inherent adaptive and/or assimilative component. As I said, if you look for it you will find similarities, someone who's done something before or anything of the like.

I think there is such a thing as derivative music and this hits that a bit. but it's so damn well done and just rocks so hard I don't even care honestly. it's executed to a T and that's where the enjoyment comes from, how effective and fun it is.

Yeah I don't give a fuck about rehashed ideas because like Wolf said, everyone does it and these guys do it right.

Of course there is. But there are also a shitload of unfounded claims of "plagiarism" thrown around when all that you have is similarities and a hunch aka the texas sharpshooter fallacy.
I mean hell, Led Zep was one of those bands that straight up stole people's songs.(with actual proof and shit) Y'know what? I don't care, I'd rather have them play Dazed and Confused than some white guy with his stupid acoustic guitar.

Well, "white people with acoustic guitar" music (bar a few exceptions) is on my shitlist right after "superficial vapid bullshit", "pandering" and "Schlager" and right before "excessive fanboyism".
Which is kinda ironic with the whole "metal makes you angry" thing. Give me this stupid "Passenger" song one day on repeat and I'll start hunting people.

I wonder whether I could get a gym in my new town to play Serpentskin, even if it's just once.
