I don't see any similarities between this and Heritage other than both being a similar shift away from metal. I think it's more solid than Heritage too because its influences aren't obvious as obvious as Heritage's.

Steven Wilson's solo albums are stronger examples of this. I'd rather listen to King Crimson or Steven Wilson's influences than listen to Steven Wilson's regurgitation.

If you are inciniating profit in the sense of egotistic profit or pride, then I could see that. In Opeth's case at least, it's possible

that Mikael went into that direction for the sake of saying that he did it. Even then, I don't see anything wrong with that just as

long as he's not doing it for actual profit, but he could be. Same for Cynic, but ditching death metal for Prog Rock doesn't

sound like a very profitable move aside from an egotistic standpoint.

I think this was a good move though. I didn't get the impression that this was Traced in Air or Focus minus the growls, it's a

different musical style and I find it appealing, especially if they hone in on it on the next release. I cant speak for the lyrics

however. I rarely if ever pay attention to lyrics in metal or prog. I have a feeling that if I did, most of my Metal/Prog ratings

would drop.
