It is. I feel like this is the perfect soundtrack to a Noir movie that doesn't exist.

Moby were on radio t'other day blabbering on about some 'moody gothic blues' music he was playing that sounded suspiciously Portisheadean

me and the wife were like he's gonna mention Portishead any second now I just know it, this ref point is so obvious he's defo gonna mention it. Fem vox. Produced 'thicc' beat. It certainly wasn't no old geezer with a guitar-type blues

nope, goes on about the origins of blues and how this interpretation was dark, gothic and moody whatever. Making very vague comparisons to old records

think he had something to do with it, may be an example of the artist being too close to the art or sumthin

anyway this is a useless lil story as I couldn't even tell ya what it were called

Idk about better than Dummy but it sure as shit ain't far behind, less saucy but a lil more haunting. This is so bizarre and beautiful in one stroke.

Dummy's my favorite, but this is a top tier album to be sure. As evidence, I shall point to the thread above only containing top tier users.

Yeah that final half minute in Western Eyes might be one of my fave moments from their career even, at once pulling the rug from underneath you and making everything click into place at the same time.

They're not as far apart quality-wise as popular opinion would make it seem anyway.
