Yeah man, its a hell of a lot to take in.

You have to piece together the pieces for yourself, but damn is it rewarding when it finally hits home.

You're telling me, I don't even know what the fuck to call this type of music. And no, calling this avant-garde is stupid. But fucking shit, the last 5 minutes of "Black Stone" is utterly heavy.

It's out there and maybe it's debateable to being "avant-garde" (I find that term to be loosely thrown around). Unique band for sure.

"I find that term to be loosely thrown around"

terms like that get thrown around because people are lazy to categorise music more than two genres

I see nothing wrong with calling Kayo Dot avant garde. It means something that is experimental or innovative that pushes boundaries beyond the norm.

At least avant garde doesn't get thrown around like 'experimental' does. Some many fucking math rock, alt prog, post hardcore prog, and trip hop bands trying to pass themselves off as experimental. Give me a break.

Probably because using the phrase Avant Garde makes you sound like a dickhead.

Simply just a genre name. To me, I guess.

Avant garde is just a genre. Just a little more complicated than others.
