I want to like this, but it isn't happening so far. It just sounds flat, no peaks and valleys.

Pretty much this. Also I still love your avatar every time I see it, that video always cracked me up

For peaks and valleys see Aeons

Aeons is responsible for at least two thirds of my rating

the other half should obviously be because of Eidolon

I don't get why everyone likes Eidolon so much. It's a good song, but I don't think it's one of the stand-outs.

"the other half should obviously be because of Eidolon"

you got that right

i think the fact that 'we are' was considered by most pretty boring when it was the only song people had heard, and then in the context of the album is now widely considered some exciting highlight, kinda reflects how meh most of this album is

might bump to a 3.5 though, it's growing on me a little

what about Aeons, Sky Machine, Float, Alpha, AM War and Nachash? All equally awesome tracks, with Sky Machine taking the crown as king bishop of the Karnivool ensemble

'We Are' was generally received well and still is. It was 'The Refusal' that everyone hated initially but makes sense in the context of the album.

This is definitely weaker than Sound Awake but I expected that. This album is full of amazing songs (A.M. War, We Are, Aeons) but it also has some really unnecessary ones (Nachash, every interlude)

Do any of you guys know Base or KILL irl? Maybe you should check on them. A whole day with no Karnivool bashing? I fear something terrible may have happened...

The interludes are really pointless. I don't think Karnivool understand how to use them well. All of the actual songs are

good, though some are noticeably better than others.

I'm not sure Base exists outside of the internet Sitar

The only useless tracks are Amusia and Asymmetry. Nothing else here needs to be excluded.
