I can't imagine someone who even likes BoC giving this a 5/10

Way too ambient wat, I dunno about y'all but that's a good thing
This is exactly the album I was hoping they'd make when it was announced.

let's face it, they could have put out anything and people would drool over it. i just find this so middle-of-the-road for boc. they're capable of so much depth and beauty and creepiness

Nothing is Real, Cold Earth, Jacquard etc are among their best tracks ever I think. Nothing is Real wouldn't look out of place on MHTRTC for example.

I'm getting the impression Gyro that you like your BoC hyper-detailed and teeming with life, and I agree with you on that, nothing beats how intricate and animated Geogaddi and MHTRTC are
But I think calling this album sleepy and boring is missing the point pretty massively. They obviously wanted to make a more desolate-sounding album, and of course that would mean simpler and more ambient songs painted in broader strokes. Sure we don't get the intimacy of their older stuff here, but the depth and beauty and creepiness is still there
"I can't imagine someone who even likes BoC giving this a 5/10" is exactly how I feel, minus that intimacy its all still here. And in exchange for that we get insane atmospheres; isn't the vastness of these tracks at all appealing?

The scale of stuff like Reach For The Dead and Sick Times takes me breath away

this has grown off me a bit, but taken as a whole album it's still a great listen- super atmospheric.
also Come to Dust kicks ass.

How can you not get chills when Split Your Infinities starts? Amazing song. The second half of this
album easily stands up to anything they've done.
My main problem here is that almost every song has a fade in and a fade out. It destroys the flow of
the album. Unlike Geo and MHTRTC were the songs linked together.

Love the first few seconds of Gemini. The way that synth just gently glides in. Really eerie.
